Isn't this fantastic?! I think I put a bug in their ear over at EMI a few months back when I told a friend of mine about how not mining the Duran Duran catalog is a missed opportunity.

I still think they need to do this with every Duran album. They keep going back to "Rio". I'd like to see the entire catalog refurbished.

Hell yes they need to do it to each and every one of their albums.... and we all know who should be in charge of it. :-)

Me too... I would probably cream my pants if that ever came out. The Parisian Mix of "Skin Trade" showed up as a bonus track on a cd single, but I don't think any of the other "Master Mixes" did. I cherish that vinyl so much.

Wow that's good news :) Can't wait for both! So the remaster edition of Rio from a couple tears back - that isnt the UK edition? I know Ive heard a rawer mix of "Hungry.." on a time-life comp. Terry has - I assumed that was from the original non-remixed lp

It's all very confusing.... I think if you go to the FAQ on the Duran Duran website, they map out all of the different "Rio" releases.

This is the release they should have done a few years ago when they remastered "Rio" the first time. It's always been a big mess between the vinyl, cassette, and multiple cd versions. At one point the cd that was available from the BMG record club was the American version (mastered off of a cassette, I believe!) while regular record stores had the regular version. It got so confusing that the band couldn't even keep it straight.

I hadn't heard that Duran Duran had left Sony, but I'm not at all surprised. They totally screwed up the promotion of "Red Carpet Massacre."

You're kidding, right?? It's the best thing they had released in years.

I just copied the press release, so it wasn't me saying "digital only extras." I don't really know what it means, exactly.
