Walmart levies lifetime ban against gay couple

Walmart may position itself as the store for the common man, but sometimes it can act downright elitist. In fact, it even goes so far as to issue lifetime bans on certain customers. The most famous recipient of the ultimate shunning is actress Megan Fox, who, according to some sources, was ( Read more... )

WalMart is, and always has been, a department store for the uneducated.

I've never understood why some people shop there. I understand people that shop there that live in small towns. It may be the only place they have to go that's nearby. But when you live in a big city and have lots of options, there are better places to go. I would rather spend a little more to shop in a cleaner store that doesn't put giant pallets of crap they want to get rid of in the middle of aisles that I have to crawl over.

I don't understand why ANY gay people or women would want to shop there. It's been well documented over the years how poorly gay and female employees of Walmart have been treated. I think it's amazing that some people just don't care about integrity at all... they think saving a few dollars is more important. That's just like handing Walmart a license to continue treating people poorly. Even in this economy, people can find other ways of saving money that don't involve Walmart.

You said it much for eloquently than I did. I fire off responses in anger and sometimes miss the main point. That point was how 2 gay individuals were treated by WalMart and it's staff. Yes, some of the really small towns have WalMart as there only major retailer. And due to economics some people shop there for that reason only ( ... )

I feel dirty every time I walk into one. I usually reserve that for the very last option. I much prefer to hit a super target or other larger grocery/goods store first. I hate what they have done to small towns and to people's souls.

Walmart, the supply store for a new generation of indentured servants.

Oh, and have you noticed their new logo looks a lot like an asshole.... huh, no surprise there I guess?

I love Super Target- it's so much better than a Walmart anyway.

Walmart has really tried hard in the past year to improve their image- but you are right. Their new little symbol looks like a puckered hole.

How many straight people are banned under similar circumstances? When I worked retail, we banned a few people, too.

The ONLY reason that this is getting any headlines, is because the couple were gay. Show me stats and numbers to PROVE that this was isolated and done because they were gay, other wise it just another gay couple pulling the "discrimination card", taking away from TRUE discrimitions and hate crimes. Can you imagine how many cards would have been pulled if they were a Chinese-Black, inter-racial, gay, handicapped couple?

Any business has the right to refuse service.

Yeah, but the gay couple didn't react until the store security confronted for them. When they produced their receipt, the issue should have been dropped. For whatever reason, it wasn't. Two men walking around in a store together shopping probably doesn't rain too many eyebrows. Two men shopping with children, however... that probably looks a bit different to smaller, uneducated, closed minds.

They shouldn't have been there in the first place!
