It was a good night at the club. Interesting things happened. I think I played pretty well, but also sort of like a space case.

There is email scrabble at The Pixie Pit.
A couple of my scrabble pals from Atlanta have been doing some email games with me. I like that I get to think for as long as I want to before I go, instead of worrying about the clock. Expert = chimpanzee
So scrabble expert rating should be the rating you have when you can probably beat a chimpanzee in scrabble
I am thinking the chimpanzee would just randomly drop the tiles onto the board, and challenge the plays that you would make

If I had spent more time studying what to do if I get AENNOT? and less time creating ridiculous cardboard walls for my scoresheet, I might not have missed ENATiON against Jean in the third game.
I lost all three

Aerolith, NASPA, some games
Played four games against Joe B. yesterday at a cafe in Austin.
Managed to win 2 so my record against Joe B. now is lost 9 and won 3.
Greatest regret is not challenging RECAGES. It's "plausible" but not right. I have had experience with this phony before!
The only letter it makes an 8 with is A: GEARCAGES, ACREAGES.

I Did the DO 2009
So I went to a Scrabble tournament, the Dallas Open 2009. Here are some highlights:
* I built a wall to put in front of my clipboard to shield my score sheet from the opponent's eyes. That is because I write down my racks on there and words that I am thinking of to see if they look right. The wall was made out of a rectangular piece of laminate ( Read more... )
