In recent days there have been numerous calls for Twitter users to change their time zone and location to match Tehran.  The idea is that doing so confuses government censors that're attempting to clamp down on any and all communication to the outside world in light of protests over the disputed Presidential election.

I thought that whole thing was very interesting, the State Department asking Twitter to cancel a scheduled downtime. Obviously whether or not changing your location on twitter makes a meaningful difference, twitter is serving an unprecedented role over there, and I think it's great and amazing that so many people are actually paying attention. Noticing world politics and caring isn't generally something people in our age group and younger excel at.

Certainly not. Though from some Tweets I've seen today, it does excel at being assholes about stuff like this for no reason.
