i have prayed this a katrillion times:

Dear Lord, bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies.

and it just occoured to me:

shouldn't I be blessing God and not the bread?

That is so true. Its one of those things that is mashed into your brain as a youngster and it never leaves. I try to thank God for the food and ask God to bless the hands that made the food.

that is true but if i remeber correctly in the Bible it says JEsus blessed the meals He ate while on earth.
