Yes, Monique is right. The more I thought about this episode the more I liked that scene, which at first kind of irked me with Tony quoting a movie for 5 year olds and Monique telling Ziva to be more true to her old self.
But the more I think about it, the more I interpret the sentiment of what Tony said as sincere, and Monique's words as more of a reminder that even if you are happy with other people, you won't be truly happy unless you are happy with yourself.
YES to the Jimmy and Abby scene haha. Normally he's not a character I'm so invested in but he is hysterical in moments like that.
Agreed, loved the great little moments and reactions between the characters that were subtle but meaningful - one of the specific characteristics about this show that I love.
My only complaint is that I feel like they had so much potential to develop the Monique and Ziva relationship more; I feel like it all went so fast to fit into the one hour time block. That and how they didn't subtitle what Tony said about Ziva in spanish, though I like that he said it in spanish.
They did a particularly good job in this episode of balancing Jimmy's goofiness with purposefulness. It was a comic situation that worked. However, for me it also highlighted the fact (and I know I harp on this a lot, but bear with me) that guest star Jimmy has had more character development that poor old McGee. I definitely felt that during that one scene where Tony was taking about how dull McGee is.
I really wish we'd gotten to find out exactly what Monique was mixed up in. That felt like an omission on the writers' part.
I'm warming to Tony's "Puss in Boots" quotation, but for me the real Tony/Ziva moment of the episode was Tony's facial expression during his heart to heart with the chaplain. So can we just get that over with already and get back to no romance on my show? (And also on that note, I really hope Ryan goes away as well.)
How can he still not be in the credits (properly) and still not be in all the episodes - he's been with the show since Season 1. Also, (minor rant) either Ducky needs an assistant or he doesn't! How can be get on with things all by himself one week and then needs Jimmy the next? It does not add up.
Since Dietzen is just a recurring cast member, I let The Case of Ducky's Vanishing Assistant go. Sometimes you just can't look to hard at TV shows or the inconsistencies will KILL you.
But that being said, they could clear that one up quite quickly by just offering Dietzen a little contract bump.
Yes, Gibbs should have some desires and interests outside of work. It keeps the character interesting. (If he didn't, he'd be McGee.) I liked the way they treated his relationship with Mann much more. She wasn't around very much and their relationship was implied rather shown.
Even for a TV character, I find Ryan to be really immature. She makes me cringe. The combination of her and Gibbs, making out like teenagers (very apt comparison to 13-year-olds, by the way--that made me laugh), makes me want to hide my head under the covers.
Tony and the chaplain was also my favorite part of the case, even though that seemed to be the chaplain's sole purpose in the episode.
Oh we better get to see some best man antics. Nude ice hockey, dude.

Whoever this writer is, I like her.

Yes. Though many of the characters don't have this inner peace/own-happiness. Except maybe Ducky.

Oh, indeed they could. It's daft he isn't a proper star by now.
