Weekly Recs 5/19/12

Completed Stories:
(Mostly newly-completed stories, plus some old ones if I haven't read them before.)
"Five Storeys High" by TapesAndRecords
[T, Tony/Ziva, ~800 words]
Summary: "She allows him to hold her as their chests heave up and down... The air is still heated; the sheets not quite settled; the night just about over." Ziva's thoughts as they both come down from that high.
KEW note: I really like the atmosphere of this story.
"Velvet" by Anonymous033
[K+, Tony/Ziva, ~1,400 words]
Summary: When Tony's apartment is broken into, he loses something very important to him.
KEW note: I think this is very in character for Tony.
"Details" by Phosporescent
[K+, Gibbs, Tony/Ziva, set post 9x21 "Rekindled", ~700 words]
Summary: When years passed without anything happening between his two most unruly agents, Gibbs had assumed that they'd put the whole thing behind them. But recently, he's started to wonder again.
KEW note: Gibbs is smart.
"The Dust Settles" by Deidra098
[K+, Tony/Ziva, ensemble, set post 9x24 "Til Death Do Us Part", ~1,700 words]
Summary: Her hand is still holding his.
KEW note: It's nice to see the whole team in the aftermath of the disaster. And it's nice to see a long period of recovery, rather than the immediate aftermath.
"Amanda" by Proseac ( proseac1)
[K+, Tony, ~1,000 words]
Summary: Tony is haunted by the memory of a particularly gruesome Baltimore Homicide case.
KEW note: A really nice story about the experiences that have shaped Tony. In my mind this goes nicely with the other experience we just learned about in 9x21 "Rekindled."
"New Digs" by Proseac ( proseac1)
[K, McGee, Tony, McGee/Abby, ~1,000 words]
Summary: Sometimes, a change of scenery is what's required.
KEW note: I love stories about McGee moving on with his life, romances, and writing career.
"Behind Closed Doors" by TheBluePiglet
[K, Tony/Ziva, set post 9x24 "Til Death Do Us Part", ~1,100 words]
Summary: In the immediate aftermath of the explosion, caught between walls of steel and the growing concern for their loved ones, Tony and Ziva can find solace in only each other.
KEW note: I like the comfort of this peace, how the only release from pain is dreaming.
"Totally, Tenderly, Tragically" by starryjules
[K, Tony, Ziva, set during 9x24 "Til Death Do Us Part", ~1,200 words]
Summary: "Because it's you. You, who went to seven different shops to find a Knee-High, Cherry Pie doll for Delores. That man wouldn't just give Jimmy a re-gifted DVD."
KEW note: A great explanation of Tony's wedding present to Jimmy and Breena.
"Heroism" by domebe-girl
[K, McGee, minor McGee/Abby, set during 9x24 "Til Death Do Us Part", ~1,100 words]
Summary: "As a wave of glass and fire roars towards him, Timothy McGee has time for one final thought that shocks even himself..."
KEW notes: A nice take on McGee's actions and thoughts during the final moments of the season finale.
"Morse" by o_o_aurora_o_o
[K+, Tony/Ziva, set post 9x24 "Til Death Do Us Part", ~675 words]
Quote: Al final había terminado quedándose dormido sobre ella, en la posición justa para abarcar uno de sus pequeños senos con la mano. Ziva se preguntó si sentiría su corazón como código morse, igual que decía el personaje de esa película.
KEW note: There is a part in this that just slays me, where Tony admits that he doesn't want to leave the elevator and face the horror outside.
"Storm" by Zayz

Summary: This is the kind of heat that precedes a storm. A big one. It'll be here any day now. You can just feel it. And you can tell he feels it too.
KEW note: Pick of the Week. Gorgeous, suspenseful writing. The first story I've seen in a long, long time that succeeds at a second person point of view.

Summary: Jenny Shepard thought a 'Dear John' letter in Paris would put a clean cut end to their affair; however, neither she nor Leroy Jethro Gibbs could sever their ties in the wake of this unexpected, and unplanned, circumstances.

"McWhyNot" by findinghero
[M, Tony/McGee/OFC, Tony/McGee]
Summary: Tim is tired of being in love with Abby, so he goes to Tony for help in getting over her. Tony's solution is not what either of them expects. Along the journey, Tim finds his place with the team.
