One week and one thousand versions of Tony and Ziva trapped in the elevator later, it's time for the latest edition of Weekly Recs.

KEW note: I love the confusion in the beginning of this: "Another small voice chimes in and wonders idly why he's close enough for her to feel this intimate noise. Did he get her drunk? Drunk enough?"
"It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" by rebecca-in-blue ( rebecca_in_blue)

Summary: "Tony tries to figure out how to take a photo of her without her noticing."
KEW note: Funny and sweet at the same time.

[T, Tony, McGee, set post 7x01 "Truth or Consequences", ~1,700 words]
Summary: Ziva has only just been rescued, and a discovery of McGee's mixed with a memory of a conversation prompts him to confront Tony. "Actually, I don't know if I want her back... She's been violated."
KEW note: This is not the best fic ever, but I liked that it had some original ideas and the author does a very nice job of grounding it in canon.
"Tell Me Your Secrets" by Hepper

Summary: Set in Serbia. Jenny gets Gibbs drunk.
KEW note: Nice canon-compliant, pre-series Gibbs/Jenny.
"Impulse" by TapesAndRecords
[K+, Tony/Ziva, ~1,700 words]
Summary: "Hold me close and be as quiet as you can, Ziva."
KEW note: This reminds me of a moment in "Cloak."
"hold on to your grenades" by poeelektra
[K+, Tony, Gibbs, ensemble, set post 5x18 "Judgment Day", ~2,075 words]
Summary: Tony knows the sound of need like nothing else. It’s the chorus of his history and the tenor of his singing blood, and Gibbs needs nothing, Gibbs breaks for nothing. Gibbs is solid oak, with his imperfect knots and gnarls and his Gibbsian whorls and his roots that stretch straight down to the center of the earth.
KEW note: Pick of the week. This shoots straight to the top as one of the best post-"Judgment Day" fics I've ever read. The author's reading of the team dynamic is pitch perfect, and the writing is lovely.
"Observation" by quotelation

Summary: Vance is missing, Gibbs is out, and McGee and Abby are downstairs...what do Tony and Ziva discuss alone in the bullpen? Or do they go past discussion, especially concerning that little black dress?
KEW note: Someone had to write this story.
"Visitor from the Past" by Mrs.AddieMontgomeryShepherd
[K+, Gibbs/Jenny, set during 9x14 "Life Before His Eyes", ~1,400 words]
Summary: A missed conversation between two past lovers.
KEW note: A missing scene of sorts from the 200th episode. Gibbs and Jenny finally get some closure.

Summary: "They never told her about it, so how can she possibly know?" Tony and Ziva realize their daughter knows more than they think.
KEW note: The sentamentalism of Gibbs holding on to one of Kelly's old toys doesn't bother me in this piece. Quite the opposite, in fact.
"Headlong into the Abyss" by alidiabin ( alidiabin)
[T, Ziva/Ray, Tony/Wendy, Tony/Ziva, ~2,300 words]
Summary: Ziva marries Ray, Tony marries Wendy. They still get caught in each other's webs.
KEW note: I really like the parallel paths their lives trace.
"Tea Party" by alidiabin ( alidiabin)
[K, Gibbs, Ducky, set post 9x04 "Enemy on the Hill", ~375 words]
Summary: Ducky teaches Gibbs how to make tea properly.
KEW note: This turned out to be quite prophetic in light of Ducky's gift to Gibbs in 9x22 "Playing with Fire."
"Voyeurs' Valentine Surprise" by gjaneo

Summary: Tony is being evasive about his plans for Valentine's Day. Ziva and McGee decide to snoop and get a surprise.
KEW note: This is a howl. I love the Abby-Ziva-McGee commentary on Tony and Gibbs's love scene.
"Dancing to the Beat" by Chirugal ( chirugal/ hinkykinky)

Summary: Tony visits Abby's lab to talk Goths. Talk becomes an impromptu dancing lesson, but by the time Gibbs joins them, the dancing on all their minds is a little more horizontal…
KEW note: I like the set-up to this.
"Guardian" by jelenamichel ( jelenamichel)

Summary: They've been trapped in this windowless room for three hours, but have faith that Gibbs will find them. While they wait, Tony and Ziva talk about the present, their future, and what it means to be a father.
KEW note: Some nice ideas in this.

Summary: Detective Tony DiNozzo has a rule-no undercover work. But when a friend is murdered, he can no longer refuse. When Agent Gibbs notices a pattern in a rash of murders, his gut starts both men down a path that will change them forever.
KEW note: Another take on Tony and Gibbs's first meeting, but this time they meet in Philadelphia while Tony is deep undercover. Very nice set up. Fifteen chapters posted.
"A Matter of Truth" by luminosity45 *NEW

Summary: Gibbs has never had to take a polygraph for a reason, now, the new SecNav wants to change that.
KEW note: Very well written, and hinting at some secrets that Gibbs is hiding. Seven chapters posted.
"Aftermath" by Emerald1 *NEW
[T, ensemble, set post 9x24 "Til Death Do Us Part"]
Summary: As the dust settles and the body count rises, the hunt for a madman reaches a new level of intensity.
KEW note: So far, this is the best post-ep to come out of the season finale. Seven chapters posted so far.
