OOC: OMG Wedding Bling Bling

H'okay. While Cuthbert and Susan's wedding is not going to be until after the Academy plot wraps up, I'd like it to happen fairly soon after the Academy wraps up, for both IC and OOC reasons. And, well...there's a lot that needs to be figured out before it does, so I'm gonna go ahead and make the first forays into discussion now.

1. Our biggest hurdle right now is that the books give us absolutely nothing about what weddings in Mid-World are like, and while I don't think Bert and Susan are likely to be sticklers for tradition, the marriage customs of the world they grew up in have got to have some affect on what they want.

Sooo...other DT folken, what do you think? Wedding party? Ceremony? Quirky little traditions like the "old, new, borrowed, blue" thing? Any ideas you have, toss them out. What I've got in mind so far:

--General consensus so far seems to be that, given how patriarchal a culture Mid-World had, it makes sense for someone to give the bride away. Which leaves the question of who. (And before anyone says anything, not Roland omg. That would just be more dinh-as-father angst than we need.)
--Bride wearing white or not? I could go either way with this, but I will admit that I've already browsed Getty for blonde girls in white dresses. (Hey, my job is boring.)
--Traditional wedding vows? I'm thinking either that or vows they'd make up themselves, so really, either way, we have to write them.
--Best man/maid of honor? Part of me really wants them to have this so Bert can ask Alain, so if anyone with a more objective viewpoint has an opinion, shoot. Other wedding party positions, like bridesmaids and such, too.

2. Once all that's straightened out, I think we should at least try to hammer out a gameplan for putting all this in motion.

I think it's a given that Lilly, at least, will be all "Wedding? EEEE, plans!", but I'm not sure how eager they're going to be to avail themselves of her services...I know Bert, at least, is going to want something fairly simple, and fairly simple + fairly Midworldian is not a combination that adds up in my mind to Lilly, say sorry. But, anyway, we'll see.

So, that's the other big thing that needs to be discussed. Who's going to be involved, and how deeply involved they're going to be. I figure we can talk about IC and OOC scheduling and such once that's figured out.
