The grin's still firmly in place as Cuthbert heads down the hall towards his and Susan's room.

It's been a more or less uneventful day, and the only really eventful thing about it has been Eddie's return.

By Milliways standards, this is a good day.

For Susan, at least, it hasn't really been a bad day. Conversations with friends, an invitation, along with seeing a family with a new baby--

(Susannah ye made yer choice - and ye're happy now, I hope)

--and settling a Death Eater's thestral into her stable.

... it's been a long day.

Mayhap that's why she's lying on their bed, eyes closed, stealing a few minutes' rest. Susan is asleep.

It only takes a moment for Cuthbert to notice her eyes are closed, and he moves about the room quietly, hanging his gunbelts from one of the bedposts and sitting on the bed to remove his boots.

As he settles onto the bed and it shifts a little under his weight, Susan's eyes flutter open.

"Wei, 'Bert." She's still drowsy, but awake enough to smile at him, a soft and sleepy smile.

Cuthbert leans over and presses a kiss to her temple, smiling.

"Hey. Sorry I woke you."
