[RL locked to Kairi] - A day of fresh air

Aug 21, 2007 21:29

Sora was sitting on his porch, kneeling over a shoe. He glanced up and down the surrounding street, feeling the familiar flutter he always got when he was about to see Kairi. He smiled a little as he laced up a shoe, he hadn't really hung out with Kairi since Riku went missing-- heck he practically hadn't left his room in these last couple of ( Read more... )

Sora wouldn't have to wait very long before she came strolling up the walkway, hands clasped together behind her back. Kairi walked in a sort of slow, 'enjoying the sunshine' sort of way, but she kept her pace, too. She was glad that Sora had made the suggestion that they take a trip to the beach. It would help get their minds on something else, anyway; she knew he was having a rough time with Riku missing too, and whatever was happening to him... But she was confident they would find him, and figure out what was going on. They had to.

When Sora himself came into view she smiled, raising a hand to wave.

"Sora!"

Hearing her voice after such a long time brought him to near elation. He glanced up and gave her a dazzling smile, waving back at her as he picked up a bag laying nearby and stuffed it into one of his many pockets. Walking over to her, he couldn't help the doofy smile that was seemingly permanently stuck on his face. Why hadn't he thought of seeing Kairi sooner?

"Kairi.. it's- it's really great to see you!" Before he could think of how embarrassed this was going to make him, he had wrapped his arms around her and was giving her a healthy squeeze.

Kairi dropped her hand when she knew he'd seen her, rocking on her heels a little as he walked over. Considering the hesitant ways he'd hugged her in the past, the initial embrace was a little surprising. Only a little, though, and it wasn't at all unwelcome. Kairi smiled even wider as she returned the hug, and laughed softly. This had been a good idea, and she had a feeling it was going to help a lot. Just one step at a time, right?

"It's great to see you too, Sora," she said, and it was obvious in her voice that she meant it.

He pulled away a little at that, the doofy smile still stuck on his face. He held her shoulders as he gazed into her eyes, feeling warmed by the light he saw in them. After a short moment he pulled away suddenly, he had realized the awkward position they were in; The physical closeness that would usually lead to a certain thing. His cheeks burned red as he stared at the ground kicking some dirt, hoping she hadn't noticed.

"I-I really needed that.." He glanced up to look at her again, his overly happy smile still there.
