Stryzinski really didn't trust the fans or networks to allow him to tell the story in his time frame. So when it was saved for season 5... we got 'blech'. And I still say Season 4 ended badly. "We're lonely" is not a way for elders of the galaxy to act thankyouverymuch. I mean, the Vorlons are the elders of the Cam, the Shadows elders of the Sabbat... they ain't doin' what they're doin' for loneliness sake demmit.
A tonne of great build-up and potential, kinda squandered.
I agree. The "you'll come with us?" line kind of ruined that whole scene. Then again, the whole thing is very Tolkien-esque, and not World of Darknessy. However, the Shadow War ended halfway through season 4, and the last half of the season was the civil war with Earth, which was kind of cool, so I don't think it ruined the entire season.
The Byron/Telepath commune thing is a foreshadowing of the Telepath Wars, but he's such an emo douche bag wannabe martyr that he annoys me to much to enjoy it.
I still think the 5th season is superior to the 1st because the 5th season has direction, even if it has nothing to do with the major plotline. The first season was more a collection of stories about the individual personas.
