First, Rodimus didn't transform into a minivan. It was a sort of RV/truck thingie that didn't really resemble any sort of actual vehicle

I think it was called the fucking "Matrix of Leadership" you Philistine!

I think your Transformers lore is lacking. After Optimus was revived in the series, they had a flashback sequence to when the Matrix was passed down to him. He didn't start off as awesome Optimus Prime. He only turned into Optimus once he opened the Matrix for the first time, just like what happened to Hot Rot when he became Rodimus. Ultra Magnus never changed because he wasn't worthy enough to open the Matrix.

Was it when he opened the Matrix or did Alpha Trion do something else to him? Though I suppose it can be assumed it was potentially a little bit of both. The lore of the Matrix is cloudy, but that's what I remember. Also, it is correct to refer to it as either the Matrix of Leadership or the Creation Matrix. :)

And I think Rodimus transformed into an RV of the future. I assume it was some kind of hybrid.

Optimus was rebuilt as Optimus not when he received the Matrix, but after he got the royal shit kicked out of him by the decepticons and Alpha Trion had to completely rebuild him.

Mikey's Lore is failing him.
