Because I posted it to Council...

Dec 02, 2008 17:49

I would like to take a moment to respond to Vitae's comments in the Brujah Coord vote. The Vitae CM said:

"... we won't support a Coord who removes himself from the Coord list when he doesn't like what he hears."
Cut for length )

I was actually informed by other coords that you had left the list.....thats why I was under the impression that you had.

I still dont fault you whatsoever for what you did.

Really? Hm. My bad. There was a disconnect somewhere, and since I talked to you the most.... sorry about that.

Maybe you'll want to chime in on the email thread on the council list? I dunno. I don't really want it to turn into another argument, especially a public one. I said my piece, but I know there will be people who spin it against me.

Now that I thought about it, I think I was the one that told the other Coords that you walked away from the Coord list

The reason why I turned off individual emails is because I was dealing with an issue that a few Coordinators disagreed with, and they decided to use name calling and insults.

Please pinpoint these "name calling" incidents .... because, frankly, they don't exist. I went through the entire archive (thank you gmail) of that incident between the time prior to you leave, up through when you had come back. Throughout the entire incident, I did not find one instance of "name calling". Yes .... there were some insulting tones (if you can truly ever have those via e-mail ... it's questionable). There were even some insults. I still didn't find any "name calling".

Sort of an academic arguement, isnt it? :) There were insults, but no name calling, and that would negate the purpose of Dale's post?

Are you denying the existence of the negative attention heaped on Dale both on and off list during that time period?

Not at all .... but espousing "name calling" is a lie.

I already e-mailed Dale off any list about all of this and other stuff regarding that situation. I don't really plan to say much else, because I prefer not to help stir the drama pot. He can choose to do with it as he sees fit.

I don't recall exactly what was said. I do remember feeling that there was name calling. I do not want to look at the archives of all the conversations because I don't feel like arguing semantics, it will just make me angry again, and I feel your point is irrelevant to the overall theme of the my email.

The point is, some coords have acted inappropriately towards other coords multiple times, and they should be the ones being scrutinized.

Dude, I just read your application and it sounded like that episode of Seinfeld when George keeps referring to himself in the third person. Good luck Dale. I hope you win!

As incumbent, people already know what to expect, so I decided to have some fun with my app this year.

I think many people are going to believe what they want to believe. Unfortunately, once a rumor gets started, it's impossible to completely fix it.
You should still try, because it will help, but don't worry too much if some people persist in believing falsehoods.

The important thing is also to make sure that you don't give the impression that you can't take criticism. It is very easy to come across as having the opinion that all who disagree with you are wrong (especially when a number of very vocal people actually feel that way). You haven't done that here, which is good, but you always have to be careful of it. It can creep up on you.
