Council stuff - St. Aug Pt 2

---- St. Aug's CM, Gary ----

In my opinion the Genre Coordinator should help enforce genre. If you are the Ventrue Coordinator and notice that all the Ventrue refuse to cooperate with each other publicly I would hope that the coord wouldn't say,

"Well that's the what the Ventrue players want as long as they are having fun!"

When you as a Brujah Coordinator begin noticing a certain hegemony forming within the clan I would hope that you begin "nudging" against it, not agreeing with your players that it makes their PCs more effective and prominent.

You will forgive me if I believe the Genre Coords have a responsibility beyond their particular players fun. I believe they should help maintain their genre for all of us.

---- Me ----

I think that it's the Coordinator's job to understand OWbN Genre, not just White Wolf Canon Genre, and to be flexible enough to work with the 12+ years of history the Org has, in which it has deviated from Canon. The players and the chronicles have gone in this direction, and we are elected to facilitate and Coordinate greater Org genre, not to force every chronicle in the Org to adopt our vision of genre. Coordinators change every year or two, but chronicles are around for much longer.

Brujah in canon genre don't get ahead because they shoot themselves in the feet. I've tried to encourage more iconcolcasts, but the PCs will play what they play, and I'm not going to order them to start playing screw-ups, nor is there any sort of IC clan hierarchy to facilitate such a change. They play what they want to play, and it's my job to work with it.

I don't think any Brujah Coordinator who tries to force the clan into bad positions is going to get very far. I do, however, find it ironically amusing that you are criticizing me here for enforcing/encouraging the perceived hegemony, and then below you criticize me for damaging the clan's IC face/political foundation of power by not having Pascek show up to the Conclave.

---- St. Aug's CM, Gary ----

I would have hoped that when you found out all the other Justicars would be in attendace you would have moved heaven and earth to make sure that Pascek showed up. Especially considering you were at the event yourself. I think the Brujah needed guiadance and political protection that a sitting Justicar could have provided, that coupled with whatever thinking went behind having a single status, former prince who is famous for losing all his status because he defied a Justicar be the Brujah representitive to the Justicars.

IC I think you can only look at it that Pascek decided to tell the rest of the Justicars to eff off! (Snub Indeed)

I think that the scandalous loss of face the Brujah suffered at the Conclave occured due to your shortsightedness. I am also disappointed that we had an oppurtunity to hold a conclave that included every Justicar but you chose not to have Pascek attend. That doesn't just effect Brujah players, it would have been cool for our shared Org history. I don't think we'll ever have this oppurtunity again.

---- Me ----

Actually, I was trying very hard to have Masako show up as a surprise guest to the Conclave, and didn't want two big NPCs. Unfortunately, due to the high costs I mentioned earlier, and Carrie being a very busy mother, this didn't work out. Only a handful of people knew about this because I wanted it to be a surprise, but now that it doesn't matter, i guess I can let the cat out of the bag.

Pascek, again, had no reason to show up personally. I'm sure Cock Robin and Streck had reasons for showing up beyond "everyone else is doing it," but I don't know what they are. Pascek didn't. I had an NPC Archon show up to help provide the clan with guidance, and yes, Pascek's presence may have helped protect Paul Walker from what he ended up enduring. At the time I believed the 60+ status would do it's job. You know, even if he was a one personal status notorious former Prince, he was a one personal status notorious former Prince, who was the known voice of Pascek, with 62 status loaned to him for the purpose of speaking at Conclave. Normally, that demands a certain amount of respect, even if grudgingly. I expected the Ventrue and Toreador, the pillars of the Prestation system in WW canon, to give that respect.

Hind sight is 20/20, but how was I supposed to know that gathering all that status would serve absolutely no purpose, and that I would be the one hung out to dry for not having Pascek show up, rather than other Coords who run "high clans" whose Justicars openly crapped all over Prestation?
