Using the calendar at the "archive" link to navigate around, I started opening all my entries, from the beginning, and saving each entry (with all comments) as a .pdf file. In one hour, I can do 3 or 4 months, so it's not fast, but it works.
On my external hard drive, I made a "LJ" folder. In it are folders for each year of my LJ (11 years!), & each year holds 3 folders: Jan- Apr, May-Aug, & Sept-Dec. Every .pdf file goes in its correct folder on the hard drive. I really like using my past LJ entries to answer the ?, "What was I doing on this day years ago?" so that method of organization suits me fine.
