Sometimes Youngbae hated being famous. He loved the stage, loved performing, loved singing, the screams even. But that was different. That was his dream, the stage was actualization. But fame…

He didn’t mind smiling for the camera, didn’t mind the various antics he pulled for the viewers. But the implications of fame didn’t fit well with him. Glamour, luxury, money…what did he need those for? As so long as he could sing, he could be happy.

In all honesty, fame didn’t suit him. People like Youngbae kept to the sidelines in life, watching the game, cheering for the best players, but never actively partcipating. He didn’t like to be bothered with scandals, and the comments made about his body scared him sometimes, even now. He rather hated the spotlight if it wasn’t on the stage, felt rather shy when he saw his face on the front of some magazine. And if one of his pictures came out particularly unflattering, it left a deep impression on his pride.

He thought that fame really did not suit him. But sometimes Jiyong would smile a particular smile, happier than the ones he had seen in the past,  and would beam at Youngbae while pointing to the audience after a successful performance or an article praising them in a bookstore and whisper excitedly, “They love us!” with his arm wrapped around Youngbae’s shoulders.  And in those moments, when he saw Jiyong’s happy face mirroring their fans or their grinning faces squished together in a picture, he thought he didn’t mind being famous if it was with Jiyong.
