The Compendium has always been something of a conundrum for me, as it is not as if I was ever a woman who thought that it was altogether of interest to write of her adventures when she could, in fact, be committing them. Still, I am in my later years; arguably, I've left adventures to the wayside for another time, such as when I magically get all of my joints replaced and much better insurance than I currently possess. However, it leaves me at a Catch-22: with the time to write due to lack of adventures, it seems I have also run short on content. I'll be needing the tail to wag the dog soon.
Still, I have plans to hatch. I'm hosting Chapter OX's first business meeting of the new year, which means I have to think on how to best expound on the theme. Gladys is always so wretched when I have to co-host with her, though, as she insists on bringing over the most tacky doilies since she's "afraid" of "ruining my glorious hardwoods" with "the drops from our teasets." She's just being nothing but vain about her handiwork, and I can't abide by that. It's probably the fact she likes to give a program on how she makes them every single time she's drawn for one, and if I have to learn how to make a rose blossom tea scallop one more time, I'll have to take drastic measures that may or may not involve violating College Point burn bans.
But really, I can't go on with this.
I need to make an appointment with the Pentamerone, as it seems that it is my Official Time of Check-In that is so terribly important with those of advancted age, I'm sure. Actually, that was mainly the whole point of my picking this dusty tome up, for I notice that the last time I even decided to look into this piece of antiquity, it was (surprise!) six months ago. I suppose it would make keeping in contact with some better, but I find that the telephone is much more convenient and--
Funny this should make me think of this: Charlie, I almost forgot you had one of these. You haven't been here since before Christmas, and I know you can't have been in Virginia for that long! You need to come over for dinner soon, as I have things for you that were under the Christmas tree. (And I so missed you singing at Lessons and Carols. I know you find it embarrassing, but I think your voice is absolutely lovely.)
