Summary: Jubilee fights a past that won't disappear.
Jubilee glared at the holographic image of Bastion. This was the fourth time she'd run the program, but she was determined to conquer the demons from her past. It had been years ago when she had been captured by him, but the bastard still haunted her nightmares. The guilt tore at her soul, no matter how many reassurances the others gave her, she knew it had been because of her they'd been captured.
Almost as if he could read her mind, Bastion spoke her fears aloud. "I wouldn't have been able to capture the X-men without your help. Have I even thanked you for that?" His laughter turned cruel and she felt her powers begin to raise, the pyrotechnics snapping from her fingertips. With a growl, Jubilee let a plasma bomb fly and hit the holographic Bastion in the chest.
"Nice one, che're." Gambit mumbled as he kept watch from the Danger Room control booth. He knew she had to fight her demons alone before she could truly move on, but that didn’t mean he wouldn't be there for her. Jubilee was a survivor, from the time of her parents' death to being crucified by the Church of Humanity, each experience making her stronger.
Bastion morphed into Hunter Brawn and her shoulders stiffened. At the time she hadn't been able to harm him, but in the back of her mind was the knowledge that this was fake. That there were no consequences to her actions and Jubilee's 'fireworks' danced around the room.
"Your parents didn't know when to turn a blind eye. All they had to do was go along like everyone else and they'd be alive. So technically they're at fault for getting killed and leaving you. They were warned, but instead they chose truth over staying alive for their little girl. What did I get? Jail time. I'll be out with the next parole and they'll still be in the ground. Doesn't quite seem fair does it?"
Anger filled the dark haired girl and a plasma blob knocked Brawn down. "My parents are worth ten of you and they didn't leave me." The words erupted in an angry staccato as she fell to her knees breathing heavily.
"They didn't leave me." This time her words were spoken softly.
Wolverine felt his heart clinch as he arrived in time to hear her softly spoken words. "Where did it end this time, Cajun?" He lit the end of his cigar, staring at Jubilee through the glass.
"You're just in time for her work out. She defeated Sabertooth, a Sentinel, Bastion, and ended it with Brawn."
Before Wolverine could comment on her choice of combatants, loud pulsating music filled the Danger Room and Jubilee jumped to her feet, beginning her gymnastic routine.
I'm a survivor (What?)
I'm not gon give up (What?)

I'm a survivor (What?)
I'm gonna make it (What?)

"D'at you are, petite." Gambit smiled down at Jubilee before turning to leave the control booth. "Coming?"
"Nah, you go ahead." Wolverine muttered over his shoulder, then turned to enter the Danger Room with Jubilee. "Is that all you got?"
Jubilee's only answer was to send an energy glob toward her friend and laugh as he ducked out of the way. "I'm just warmin' up."
