Could Somebody Tell Me Why I'm Writing "Cosmos" Fanfic?

I'm really considering firing my muse and finding a new one, because the one I have must have been hired from the worst section of Craig's List. Seriously, as if my fic ideas weren't weird enough, I now have to take this renowned series and reduce it to something that should be in the worst of the Star Trek community.

Thanks for the encouragement, and I do see what you mean. Actually, my own issues have had more to do with worrying about what others think. So the writing is actually a good way for me to break out of that self-conscious trap while also doing something that requires some actual skill. Artists and musicians have done the same thing with their work, as have other writers. So while I may never be on par with Dostoevsky (Nobody is, lol.) at least I can get a general idea of where that sort of thing comes from.
