If i understand correctly, that's part of the appeal of NaNoWriMo -- nobody's as prepared as they want to be, nothing's as good as anyone's first novel, etc, etc. To quote from their FAQ:
If I'm just writing 50,000 words of crap, why bother? Why not just write a real novel later, when I have more time? 1) If you don't do it now, you probably never will. 2) Aiming low is the best way to succeed. 3) Art for art's sake does wonderful things to you.

YAY!
And about time, too. I presume you will be acquiring these glasses pretty soon?
Also, are you coming to my thing tomorrow? I haven't seen you in a while, so I'm wonderin'.
