July and August books

I was moving and traveling and stuff in July and August, but I did read some books. This list will be longer next time, but they'll mostly be school-related.
Book Books
  • , said the shotgun to the head by Saul Williams: I actually read poetry, and it was amazing.
  • Chuck Klosterman IV
  • Leviathan and the Air-Pump: Hobbes, Boyle, and the Experimental Life ( Read more... )

I think Danny the Champion of the World is one of my mom's favorite books. She read it aloud to us when my sisters and I were younger.

As the World Burns fucked me up.

I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to do that. Let me know if I can help/talk?

No, no, nothing wrong! I had just never considered the numbers like they laid them out.

What did you think about the Alan Moore books? I've been trying to get around to reading more of him. I love Watchmen in a depressing way, but I've never gotten around to reading other things he's written.

The next best is V for Vendetta. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is clever reframing of turn-of-the-century fictional characters, and Lost Girls does the same thing but as porn. Batman: The Killing Joke is pretty good, and some people think it was a big influence on the latest movie. I really like Swamp Think, but it's not as consistently Alan-Moore-like as those are. Though sometimes it really is.

I think if I read the book I will understand that last statement, because currently it puzzles me. :)
