This morning I got a phonecall and when I heard the voice on the other end I didn't really want to hear it :P As I was in for two schools I definitely have a preference! The voice on the other end was the Assistant Principal at the less favoured school. But turns out he just needed someone for two and a half weeks starting on Thursday - school starts for students on Monday - because he has a teacher on sick leave for two weeks. (heck of a time to have Bell's Palsy!) So I said oh, okay, sure I can do that - but erm, what about if I get a contract call? Well of course you take the contract.
Of course I do ...
So then we went off to a house building appointment (ugh that's a saga I don't need to go into. It's early planning stages but Mr Kezza has arranged to talk to no less than 6 builders so far and I am sick of all the appointments!) And then we bought another printer because mine refused to talk to the new fancy computer with Windows 7. I need a printer to do teaching work and if I am even only teaching for 2 weeks - I need a printer. Luckily Mr Kezza saw my POV unlike last night when he kept saying he would print things for me. It's not the same, I think we all know that! (So, the new printer is fun by the way!)
So I had my head all full of preparing for the next two weeks and I thought "Self, get your paperwork in to the other school so they know you are available after 2 weeks." So I sent off an email and then decided that since I was starting work in two days I had better go and get the facial waxing done (really, really far too hirsuite). As I was trying to locate the keys Mr Kezza says "Isn't that your phone?" So I scrambled madly for the phone that I haven't taken my eyes off lately, and it was unceremoniously shoved in my handbag for the first time in two weeks! This time it was the voice I wanted to hear (Deputy Principal of favoured school - Helen) and I thought "oooh she answered my email quick!"
But no :) As I was sending my 'here is my relief teacher paperwork' email, the Department was calling my new workplace to say 'Keren's yours'. I was very confused and Helen was all "What email ... oh here's an email!" Her response when I said "It's my TRT authority" was "Well you know where we can stick *that*, don't you?!" I'm pretty sure she hit the delete button :P
So to clarify - I start Thursday January 27th, I am teaching Year 5/6 and it's exactly where I wanted to be and the school I've been mentally preparing for all holidays (depsite my efforts not to get my hopes up!)
Here's hoping I manage not to stuff it up!
