Kezza, you're the type of teacher those kids need. Hang in there, keep plugging away and never give up hope. I'm very glad that you feel accomplished for the improvements your students have made in math.
Also, take comfort that there are teachers all over the world who are fighting the same problems you are. Here in the US, inner city schools are the places with the low funding, principals who seem to not care and parents who don't give a #%+()! However, the children are making improvements because teachers like you care so very much about getting their students the help they need.
I wish you and your students the best. You are in my thoughts.
Woot Kezza!! You are doing more than you think you are, the proof is in the scores. Keep up the awesome work. I know it's hard to have children who are "at risk" and not have the resources to help them. It kills me that we have a system that looks at a child that is probably MR and says, "we can't help him, so we won't even try." These are the kids that need the extra support, just so that can get as much out of school as they can. I feel your pain with low attendance too. Remember, you are making a difference, you may not even see it, but you are making a difference in these kids lives.
