I think I'll never see -LJ Idol week 6

I love all the little gadgets in my world, but I think that barefoot, pregnant in a sun dress and tending a garden would suit me just fine....that I would enjoy cooking the food I raised or grew and teaching my kids about the simple pleasures in life.

And I know I'm going to have to find an old soul if I'm to find someone who would enjoy that kind ( Read more... )

This could have been me 18-20 years ago. You're not keeping yourself single. Those are all lofty and worthwhile standards and you'll find him someday. Likely when you're least expecting it.

I hope you get all you're dreaming of. :)

*hugs*

I hope that I didn't run myself out of time....I was married for a good long time, and to a good man, but I should have left sooner than I did, but I fought wanting kids to stay with him, because I did love him. Only leaving when I realized that the issue of kids would make me resent him or vice versa if I stayed.

We'll see if the right one is out there.

There is a lot of busy-ness in the background of all of what you want, but it's a peaceful sort of busy-ness. That's the gift that simplicity offers. It may not slow everything down, but it changes our expectations of how much, how fast, and in what way, and sometimes that makes an enormous difference.

I think that life would somehow be busier than the one I currently lead, but worth the busy feeling it would bring.

I think so, too. I also think we would lower our expectations of what was possible (or necessary!) for any given day, and find that we're prioritizing the truly important rather than simply the many "doable" things we let run us around the block again and again right now.

Agreed! We do get stressed over things that just don't really matter in the big picture a lot...

Dude here. I know numerous dudes like what you describe, albeit like what you describe sort of facelessly, do exist. I have plenty of dude friends who have ended up with this kind of dude-life. Some of them fantasized about it before they did so. Some of them settled into it sooner, some later. So stick to your guns.

One important thing is that for a dude to settle into this kind of dude-life, he has to be highly compatible with the pre-simple-life aspects of the non-dude with whom he enters into such a gradually unfolding arrangement. Be yourself and let the dude "come" to you. It will all make sense with time.

Not that I need to tell you any of this, you're smart.

Personally, all I really wanted was a wife who would agree to build a Moog-style modular synth with me, but I somehow ended up going another direction. Maybe someday I'll teach her how to solder at least.

Okay, first the dude/dude-life/non-dude's in this response had me chuckling pretty hard ( ... )

They exist. They're rare, and there may be limits to how far they can function in their non-native mode of the two, but they exist.

I *should* be better at soldering than I am, truth be told. Darn modern day surface mount components.

Surface mounts definitely has made the skill of soldering one that goes to the wayside....they are much easier to work with so I get it.... I practiced my soldering on the cute little bug kits that are truly for kids (like the one where you attach everything to a board, and once it's powered all it does is alternate lights flickering...)
