Leon was a stoic sort of guy. Goal-oriented and all. If he set out to do something -like, say, rebuild a half-ruined world piece by dragging, reluctant piece-then he would do it, come hell, high-water, or the guy who has been popping in and out of his life for the last ever starting to actually hang around for once. (Apparently, this was significant, but anytime Leon asked Aeris or Yuffie about it they just started laughing at him. Leon had decided to save his dignity and just not ask anymore.)

I love how it's Cloud trying to get Leon's attention. All the other L/C fics I've read have it the other way around. And I love Leon's characterization. So stoic and innocent. (He never had a chance, imo.)

Ahahaha, Leon. Leon in this draws HEAVILY from how Squall acts in FF8, because Squall is always "...wait, there's something besides a mission? People like me? What?" and then he just gets a little confused before another mission comes up and he throws himself into that. Cloud, on the other hand, also draws heavily from his own game, because Cloud was a snarky bitch.
And Cloud chasing Leon is something the fandom needs more of, tbh.

Leon stands up straight from where he was leaning on the railing overlooking the gardens and glances over his shoulder. Walking forward, Riku takes his place, elbows resting on the cool metal rail. Leon crosses his arms and examines the silveret with a faint smile.
Looking back over the gardens, Leon nods. "Yeah, it looks good."
"Is this what it used to look like?" Riku gestures out with one hand, movements stiff and unsure.
"Not exactly."
Riku blinks and looks at him, curious. "Why not?"
"It's..." Leon sighs, tugging thoughtfully at his hair. "Radiant Garden was beautiful and safe, but it did become Hollow Bastion." Roxas slammed his hands against the wall, feeling the sizzle and crack of energy searing his hands. With a sigh, he stepped back to level a glare at the inevitably nearby Reaper, standing innocuously in the unseeing crowd. He yelled, “This is all your fault!”
