So the pope came out today and said that, and I paraphrase, "America has done more harm to itself with the torture of the Iraqi prisoners, than Al Qaeda ever did with planes ( Read more... )

jordan, every once in awhile, you write something here that reminds me why you are my friend. Almost every point you have made, i agree with. I am not ashamed to be an american, because being an american means something different to me than bush's america. But so much of this is why i am damn well voting come november.

i think the pope forgot that british soldiers did bad things too. and i bet ya there are iraqis being tortured by iraqis just because they want to have freedom and not be ruled by a tyrant. but then the pope would have to sit and explain everything which just isn't his way.... oy.
i'm tired of this country too. the way it's being run is absurd. our votes don't really count, if you look at it. the state majority could be democratic, but with the electoral college the senator goes republican. wtf. that wasn't what the majority of the state voted for. and quite frankly stuff is becoming too darn dirty. dirty dealing, dirty double crossing... it's all too much. i think i'll find an island somewhere and just live there alone or something......

Just because other people did it, doesn't absolve us in any way. Besides, we were the ones savage enough to photograph it. We get what we deserve.

About this island...can I come? and bring a few friends? We can set up an island nation. It'll be fun

no, you didn't get what i was saying. as usual, the european doesn't take any of the blame. and if i remember my bbc news, yes the brits did take pictures. and those seen were "not fit to wear the queen's uniform."
i said nothing about absolving anything. my comment is to say that we're the only ones viewed as savages even though europeans did it too. i like them but sometimes they're fuckin snobs...

hurray for islands. sure!

i want to comment on this, but i feel i can't do myself or my opinions justice.
You know me jordan, and since i would only want to address you(as opposed to the internet masses)anyway, i am sure you can imagine the comments i would try to make/would make to you.
So just pretend i did and i guess the net outcome will be the same.

Hell, prior to the war, Bush managed to quite possibly be the worst president in history in the short span of a year. His environmental policies were, and continue to be, atrocious and damaging to the planet, and are implemented only for the benefit and boon of large corporations and conservative industries. Let us take the "Healthy Forest Initiative," for example, wherein he allowed a lumber company to go in and trim a forest because of wildfires that were occurring. However, many ecologists told Bush that the wildfires were natural and part of the cycle of the forest's self-restoration, and that it would be more damaging to the forests to actually smother them. Who won there? The timber industry, of course . . . And I can't stress enough how retarded his answer to the Californian energy crisis was. The only thing he did to pathetically attempt to alleviate the issue was allowing certain nuclear power plants to reopen their doors, after having been shut down for emissions violation. Did this even help? Hardly, of course Bush wouldn't ( ... )
