Yes, it is very selfish to want children. I'm just glad you can admit that, because most people will say that having kids is one of the most unselfish things you can do.
I also find it pretty selfish that people feel the need to create their own children, when there's tons of perfectly good kids out there waiting to be adopted. It's like the difference between getting on the waiting list to have one of those hypoallergenic cats bred for you when you could go to the pound and get an existing cat. Or cutting down trees to make brand new paper when you could recycle some existing paper or write on the back of something.

L, I knew you were going to say that, and I'm glad you did because I have the perfect response. You say it's selfish to "make" your own kids rather than adopt because there are plenty of needy kids already. My response to that is:
If you're so concerned, why don't you adopt one?
Now, naturally, you're reply will be, "I don't want kids, why should I be the one to "save" them." Fair enough. My response is, "I don't want an adopted child either. What makes my needs any more selfish than yours?" You see, to you, a kid = kid = kid. For (prospective) parents, your own flesh and blood is a whole different ball game. I agree that adoption is honorable, but unless you decide you want kids of your own someday, you will never understand what a significant difference it is to most people.
Also, God doesn't make mistakes when it comes to cats. Dogs, absolutely. But not cats.
"If you're so concerned, why don't you adopt one?"
And I knew you were going to say that.
You're right, I don't want one. If I did want to own a child, I would certainly look into adopting one. I just don't have that need to reproduce my own genes, etc.
I'll be honest, that's probably the way to go. I don't think the world could deal with a Greg Jr. And you don't OWN kids, you harvest them. They're livestock, not inventory.

Sorry guys. Have fun with your babies.
