Statutory rape, the pregnant women at my office are douchebags, and plastic babies

I was stuck home all day yesterday fighting off the remnants of a sinus infection, watching my second favorite daytime TV show, the People's Court (Maury being the first), when they had one gentleman on who was a convicvted sex offender. What really got my goat was how he has got this label. Seventeen years ago, when he was seventeen, he had sex ( Read more... )

Re: the fake babies, BBC America had a documentary about them recently (My Fake Baby). It was disturbing. Some of the women just collected them like a lot of people collect dolls, but others really treated them like children, buying them expensive designer baby clothes and keeping them in real cribs. One lady on the show had a doll made to look like her grandson, and the way she talked about him the whole time made it seem like he had died. Then in the end you find out that his family moved to Australia. Which, yes, is very far away and she obviously doesn't see him as much as when he was living with her, but there's no need to replace him! The most disturbing woman, though, didn't have children of her own and overcompensated by getting these dolls. The show followed her ordering a special doll and she and her mother came to the US to pick it up. She spent an entire weekend in a hotel room "bonding" with her new doll! First off, that argument doesn't hold water because masturbating at work, not only is something you SHOULDN'T be doing, but it could get you arrested. Second of all, unless I told you it was a lactation room, you would never know. It has a chair, a table, a sink, and a fridge, and that's it. The only way I know it's a lactation room is because of the sign on the door saying so. And thirdly, lets assume we lived in a society where public masturbation was ok, then no, I would not have a problem asking a woman to leave so I could take care of business.

Well I used that as an example because a lot of guys seem to think that's something that needs to be done on a regular basis in order to keep sane, and likewise for a woman who's nursing a baby (no, a pregnant woman wouldn't be using the lactation room), it's something that needs to be done on a regular basis, and it's nice of your company to provide them a clean, comfortable area to do that. Even though I am a master debater, I don't want to get into a masturbation debate.

That's really a shame, since I am quite the cunning linguist.
