The kinder, gentler Comicon

Dubai had their FIRST EVER Middle Eastern Comicon this past weekend. I'm tempted to call it an unqualified success, but then, my standards aren't too terribly exacting. Ever since I crashed E3 in 2004, I've realized that I like my cons bite-sized and this one was delightfully intimate and very reasonably priced. And I was with gjstruthseeker and there was a ( Read more... )

This sounds like so much fun (I feel kinda sorry for Tony Stark that his Audi is so fugly, though), all these pics have cheered me right up.

It was soooo good to chat with you. I hope you are on the mend. and thanks for the link. NezumiPi has updated 'Masters of the Universe', I'll kind of be sad when it's done.

Rock on! Smaller cons are much more fun. When the San Diego comicon was smaller it was still too big (yet tempting) for me. A good friend goes to that all of the time. I wonder how she deals with the crowds. The LA Doctor Who con was a very nice size. Totally dealable!

Cosplay is so cool and back in the olden days (80's) wasn't so rampant. Just a few brave souls. I've friends who really rock out with their costumes for events like Dragoncon.

Aha! regarding Padalecki's height. I knew he has to be at least 6'6" since I have several 6'4" friends and I compare how I look next to them with how similarly 5'9" people seem next to Padalecki. (I'm height obsessed) There's no way he's 6'4". (nods head affirmatively)

It's not that we're height obsessed, it's just that in the normal run of things there are so few dudes who can make the 5'9" and up gals feel petite. And it's definitely not the norm in the acting world. Mark Sheppard, god bless him, was about 5'7" if I'm being generous. He said that a couple of months ago, Jared had picked him up and shook him in an excess of enthusiasm...I confess that I could totally envision it.
