I guess Merlin is about 5 months old by now, since last time I read something about him :)
I'm glad to hear he is keeping you entertained. And, yes, the 'snip' might indeed calm him down, and within a year he might turn out to be a nice, calm, grown-up housebound kitty.
My little cattledog was full of beens for a good three and a half years, and now that he is five years old, I really enjoy his company. Although, I miss the spontaneous puppy-bursts of energy, which are no longer with him. Pets grow up so fast, it is good to remember their short 'childhood' and make the most of playing with them.
Yeah, he's around that age now. Overall, I can't really complain about his usual behavior as he tends to be decently behaved and can be a great chest cat. I say chest as that is where he likes to nap if he decides he wants to be held. Perhaps one day he will discover laps, but I'm not holding my breath.
It's where I used to hold him in the days after I first found him. It calmed him down and I figured if it worked when my niece was a baby, it works with kittens. :)
