Me VS CTKT : Hiking at Mt. Takao

Aug 13, 2012 12:32

This post is about my trip to Mt. Takao, Tokyo
This is actually posted on my blog, but refer to this post, I move it here.

Nice weather on weekend.
I decided to go to Mt. Takao, where KAT-TUN (Kame, Koki and Ueda) went there for Cartoon KAT-TUN episode 109.
So, here what I found at Mt. Takao (the left side picture is taken from CTKT, while the right side is taken by me):

Kiyotaki Station; entrance for the mountain and also as station for cable car and car lift. It is near Takaosanguchi Station, from Shinjuku Station you need to take KEIO Line (actually you can take another line, but in my opinion KEIO is the most convenient one). From Shinjuku to Takaosanguchi will cost about 400 yen and will take about an hour, so you can sleep along the way.

Actually I'd like to try Kame and Koki's route, but its very tiring. So, I decided to take Ueda's route.

The cable car; there are two types of cable car, the Aoba and Momiji. The differences? Only the color of the exterior. For one way trip it will cost 470 yen, or 900 yen for round trip. Yeah, Japan will never give you great discount. The ride will takes about 5 minutes to reach the next station.

View from inside the cable car:

The next station is about 3/4 from the total hiking route of Mt. Takao (yes girl, I was being sneaky) and right in front of the station we could see the scenery below.

Tenguyaki; the shop was very crowded at that time, I had to queue for some times before I could buy the tenguyaki. Just tell me where you could find no queue in Japan?

It cost 120 yen for one and as Ueda said it was delicious! The kuromame was sweet and I recommend to try this food. Because not everyone know about this food (even for Japanese), almost every students in International Center of my university went to Takao, but none of them knew about this tenguyaki (and even my sensei didn't know about it).

The pin machine. It was near the tenguyaki shop, in front of the souvenir shop. I didn't try it, but it will suck your money by 200 yen if you wanna get the small pin.

Monkey park. I didn't go inside it, not so interested to monkey. I don't remember how much it cost, sorry.

The stairs. It was very tiring!! How could Ueda ran over that stairs! He even smiled and didn't look tired at all after running at that stairs!

The peak. After walked for an hour, I reached the peak (there was a lot of beautiful temples and places along the road, but I wouldn't post it here, since this post is entitled Me VS CTKT).

It was very beautiful at the peak, though there were maaaany peoples. And you have to bear with it, nowhere is not crowded in Japan when it comes to holiday. Peoples said that we could see Mt. Fuji from the peak of Mt. Takao, but I saw nothing.

I really wanted to try the Tororo soba, but I was unlucky, the soba shop was crowded. Ah, an extra note: not every Japan food that looks tempting is delicious.

Beautiful beech tree (ブナの木). At that time, I wasn't sure that the picture I took is the same tree where they (Kame, Koki and Ueda) went. But after I checked the CTKT video again, I am sure that I went to the same tree. To reach this tree, you have to takes route number 4 from the peak of Mt. Takao, you will cross pine forest by wood stairs and you have to pay attention to your surrounding! Because this tree is not at common place, its hidden on the right side of the descend road. (even I am not sure that I could find this tree again if I go back there once more)

Lay down at the ground. Call me strange, but... I lay at the same place with Kamenashi... XDD

I am Kamenashi's fan, but rather than stalking him, my hiking at Mt. Takao was closer to stalking Ueda. XDDD
As bonuses, I found a lot of Nakamaru along the hiking tracks.

Hope you still remember this one:

Extra bonus; super big Nakamaru on Takaosanguchi Station:
This one is special, I thought. Because the 2nd time I went to Mt. Takao (the end of July, for a party with my friends) I couldn't find it.

Okay, that was a joke. They worship Tengu on Mt. Takao, thats why you will find a lot of tengu there; phone strap, key chain, omamori, wall hanging, etc.
If you wanna know more about Mt. Takao or plan to go hiking there, just take your time and look here. That site was really helpful. And if you plan to go down from the peak by using cable car or lift, take a note of the last departure (my friend forgot it and he had to go down in darkness).
