I've lost weight and kept some of it off, but I'm still 'fat'/never got down to "ideal weight".
add: I think that Bill Clinton is an example of someone who has lost weight and kept it off, but he has staff to help him stay on-track.
I have a friend in weight watchers who was fat all her life and is now at her ideal weight for almost 2 years now, after an alarming series of lab tests from her doc scared the bejeebers out of her.
You've got three example. Two of which you had to edit in. one of which you admit is a result of rich white guy privilege, and another one you openly admit is only a partial success.
Look I'm going to be optimistic for once and assume this is supposed to be some sort of tough love thing that'll totally get me out there and losing weight. To which I guess I must say thank you but please. If all you have is privilege way out of my reach and 1.5 lucky statistical anomalies, then please curb the sarcasm. What you hold is not nearly enough to warrant it.
White lady who can afford weight watchers and has a doctor riding her like a mule over her cholesterol level four times a year.
I count myself as a case supporting your argument--I kept some weight off but STILL would never qualify as a 'thin' person (having bottomed out at 180 lbs with a target of 150 that I never reached).
The only time you run into 'former fat' people is under exceptional circumstances that are almost impossible to duplicate, or that you wouldn't want to duplicate (ie: life-threatening illness).
In my defense, i was half sick (and still kinda am) so... brain no worky.
That and well... it's a post about weight loss that ISN'T about how easy and awesome it is, can you really blame me for expecting a "you're just making excuses!" style response? =/
