I was looking over California state gun laws in hopes of organizing a gunmeet up in Modoc County, but they really, really suck. The thing that stuck out to me was, if you have a semiautomatic rifle, you can not have a pistol grip on it

Its downright wrong to assume that long guns of any sort are the mainstay of violent crime. Banning assault rifles to prevent violence makes as much sense as banning all cars with over 300 horse power to prevent speeding.

A complete handgun ban is a much better idea. It's worked really well for Washington DC, which is almost crime free now.
