 Call me crazy or call me old--I'll answer to both, since I just found out about livejournal.  I can't keep up with all the changes in technology!  I'm starting to sound like my mom (which wouldn't be a bad thing--she's pretty cool).

I'm sure it's possible to live a completely fulfilling life without Live Journal, Twitter, Blogger, what have you.... But it's so much fun and I've made friends here. I'm sure you will, too!
