"Boss, it looks like the Feebs are here," Tony called out as he saw a series of black Toyota SUVs pull up, followed by a mobile lab van similar to their own. "Want me to distract them?"
"No need, DiNozzo. I doubt they'll get anything more from this body than we have," Gibbs answered, walking over to the younger agent. The front doors of the lead SUV opened, a man in a suit and a woman in a dark blue coverall exiting the vehicle.
"...that's not how God works, Bones," Tony heard the man argue in an exasperated voice, continuing some argument that they had been having in the SUV. "He doesn't just abandon you in a buried car, or something like that." Seeing the two NCIS agents staring at them, he signed and grabbed his badge from the inside of his jacket.
"Special Agent Seeley Booth with the FBI," he introduced himself. "This is Doctor Temperance Brennen from the Jeffersonian. We're here to take a look at the remains."
"I think our coroner has it under control, but thanks for the offer," Gibbs replied in what sounded superficially like a friendly tone of voice, but with a challenging undertone to it.
"Then why am I here, Booth?" Dr. Brennan asked Special Agent Booth. "I thought you said there was a body for me to identify."
"There is, Bones, just let me handle this," he replied to her before turning back to Gibbs and Tony. "Dr. Brennan is a forensic anthropologist," he explained in a patient voice. "She's a bone lady." Another van had pulled up and three more people exited--two men and a woman.
"Is there a problem here, Seeley?" the other woman answered, pulling on a pair of forensic gloves. Taking advantage of their distraction, Dr. Brennan took that moment to slip past the two men and walk towards where Ducky and Palmer were crouched over the body.
"Hey, wait!" Tony called out before the three new arrivals followed Dr. Brennan, leaving an amused Booth behind.
"Sorry, guys, Bones just has a mind of her own," he apologized, rubbing the back of his head. "Although, to be fair, it was your coroner who called Cam to ask for our help." Walking over to join the cluster of people, Tony could hear him ask, "So what have you got for me, Bones?"
"So I guess we're sharing jurisdiction on this one then, Boss?" he asked Gibbs, who was watching the new arrivals with a wary eye.
"It's starting to look that way, DiNozzo," he answered.
