Careful, he isn't out just yet. :) He still has 2 months to accidentally push the Big Red Button. :o
Many, many people are mourning the USA as dead already because McCain didn't win. It's astonishing. McCain isn't gone, and the President doesn't have nearly as much influence as people believe.
I forget if I said it here or on a forum I frequent, but I think it'd be cool if McCain got a place in Obama's cabinet. Their goals are essentially the same, though their views are very different, and I think that would be good for this country.
That's strange. I haven't heard anything like this so far. :p Everyone on my friends list is all "*SOBS WITH JOY*" about Obama. It's almost kind of annoying. :p
Well, I frequent some forums where there are a lot of avid McCain supporters who genuinely believe Obama is the terrorist, communist (not socialist as they have been interchangably using), Muslim (as if that's evil by itself), baby-killing, country-hating "nigger" (yes it's been used despite the fact he's half white) that he has been painted as through this campaign. They really, truly believe that he's going to make things so much worse in a hurry.
The only thing that honestly frightened me about McCain was his choice of running mate. If he'd have been smart about that decision... if he had run his campaign the way he made his speech last night... it would have been much better for him.
This is a public entry for a reason. ;) Nobody on my LJ was specifically complaining. But, sooo many people are just doom and gloom all over the place. It's just irrational. For the reason cited above: No more Bush!
Although, there was a bet going on around my family that Bush would step up and say something like "Yanno, it's too important a time for me to step down now... I think I'll keep the Presidency!"
Okay, so, I really have to ask, because I just don't see it. How was Bush such a horrible president that people are surprised that we made it through his presidency?
1. Our standing in the world went to complete crap in the span of less than 8 years - mostly from the actions of his administration.
2. He re-wrote the rules to suit him - something no other President has been able to get away with successfully, and likely won't again for some time.
3. He has lied, time and again, to the people, trying to keep us afraid and in the dark, so we will blindly allow him to do what he wishes - which he did successfully, obviously, and thus screwed it up for the entire Republican party in terms of elected officials. I mean, really, even HE knows he was a terrible president - why else wouldn't he campaign for McCain?

I think these 3 reasons are pretty big ones.
