Been seeing many articles and FB conversations about school dress codes.  About a high school that actually photoshopped some female students yearbook pictures without the student's or parent's consent.  About a girl kicked out of her prom for being too beautiful and dancing.  One uplifting positive one about a Sikh college student http://jezebel.Read more... )

And I suppose it's not about gender at all. (In wild Russia there's no such thing as "tolerance", and women blame their daughters for non-femic dress and behavior 5 time more often then men. Men usually do the same thing for their sons - I mean, fear that their child 'd be not "big bearded man" when he'll grow up.) It's not because men can't stop their normal, natural instincts (it's not about maniacs and so on), it's because humanity, with some rare excludes, used to make some one who is outstanding anyway back 'nto the crowd. Mass don't want to leave person a chance to look, operate, relating etc as person wants. Many years ago it was a question of surviving - to make as many children as you can, to teach them to work and live in tribes, to be more "normal" because of religion and society standardizing laws. Mankind made some big steps for now. It's normal to be a single person now, not "a part of ...". It's - theoretically, - normal to have your own views, aims, positions. But most of people stay somewhere in past, worship hard ( ... )
