So I joined the YMCA with a friend so we could together lose weight and today we went swimming with her kids. Teaching kids to swim is work! So 2 hours of swimming. Guess how many calories that burns. Over 2000!!!!!!!!

By the way anyone who ever wanted to do weight watchers or something like it but didn't want to pay? Read more... )

Not only is swimming a great way to burn calories but it is low impact, a total body workout and even slightly diuretic if in salt water due to osmosis.

the low impact is totally the main reason I am doing it. I can't work out with my bum hip in a regular way, so water is the way to go. the best way to get my bum hip to work is to work out... but i can't work out because i have a bum hip... HUH?! So yeah, water aerobics!

Oh man, I remember when you busted your hip. I can't even. The pain was godawful when I busted my ankle - both times - but a hip? And you totally weren't even like OMG THE PAIN about it. Yay drugs, but also, you're just a badass.

About the exercise, I so know what you mean. Working out is tough when you're broken. I can't even do the damn treadmill with the one busted ankle that turned out to be permanently busted. That I originally busted when I was fifteen. Nice. I'd love to try water aerobics, but my broke ass can't afford a gym membership. So, I do yoga at home. It's actually a much better workout than many people realize. I know I was surprised.

I MISS SWIMMING. It's the one thing I still love about Summer.

You know what else I miss? Your face.

Swimming or any water workout burns so many calories. I need to start again with that. I do WW btw but I'm still checking out that link. Thanks for sharing :)

Well it's free, is the thing. LOL. I can't afford the $30/mo that weightwatchers is.
