Today I encountered a pretty startling coincidence. On my way home I finally saw gas under $2.00, which is rather scary despite how much I like filling up for half the price. I also got my first cube solve under 20 seconds, ever. 19.75 seconds to be exact. I set a goal this time last year, when I first got a cube, to be able to solve it in under 30 ( Read more... )

Math? Speedcubing involves math? Its cool that you've accomplished the goal you set for yourself to do. Are you going to keep going for even lower times?

Yay, gas is going down, I filled up at 1.89 a gallon today though I agree with you, I rather be paying a dollar for gas.

Well that's the thing, ultimately it is math. There are courses on group theory that use rubik's cubes as their primary example. Ultimately I would like to get as fast as the fastest, wish would be around 11 or 12 seconds on average. I don't think that's possible, but then again I didn't think 60 seconds was possible or 30, until I got there.
