OK... had the septoplasty on Monday and am healing fine except for all the dried crud in my nose which is annoying me.

If anyone has had this done, how did you deal with that?

Oh, man, I had one and was miserable for weeks. Did they give you Ocean saline? I used it every couple of hours to keep the crud at bay. How long are they keeping your splints in? I had mine for 10 days, and getting them out was cake compared to the packing. I didn't feel human until the splints were out, and once they were, it was magic, I could breathe!!

i have splints? i know i have sutures.

i have saline and i'm also finding that just wet gauze helps.

I had clear plastic splints sutured on both sides of my septum. They just barely were visible. They were actually held in by one really long suture and it was so weird to have it pulled out.

update: got my splints out a month ago (it hurt like hades) and had a ton of crap pulled out as well. the pain was pretty intense -- there are a lot of nerve endings in the nose!!!!
