In the deleted scene "Background Check", you can see the entire criminal record of White.

I've taken it upon myself to type it all up, so here it is. (Note: any lacking punctuation or misspelling is because of the original document)

I'm doing exactly the same thing, and I just ordered myself a copy of the 15th anniversary edition on ebay.

However, I don't have scruples like you do (:D), so all this I got from someone uploading the deleted scene onto youtube. They're really great quality, so I gleaned a lot from it.

Anyway, this should help in understanding White's past a little more. He was definitely from a bad, probably poverty-stricken background. Joe was probably like a father to him (no wonder, with Larry calling him "Papa"), given that he was abused by his parents, and his Mom died when he was young.

Also, given that one of his nicknames is "Micky", and his surname is very Irish (Dimick), we can assume he's, uh... well, very Irish himself. XD People of a certain generation, namely that of around White's age, were all very conscious of ethnicity, so I'm sure that "Micky" is just another relic from being a criminal of a certain age.

No problem! I had fun with it.

@_@ My brain, and my eyes, are melted puddles, now, I swear.

Duuuuude, watch the movie, I need to recruit you for the fandom and my evil purposes. Trust me, you'll like this, since you liked Max Payne.

There's even canon ho!yay (though it's more.... unusual touching and comforting than seduction, but even so).

Places like amazon and iTunes will let you buy the movie and download it onto your computer without needing to buy the disc, if you're interested.

I've watched it, hence the "shit is cash" comment. And yeah - I really, really liked it.

I'll probably get the DVD if I find one here. :o My Helsinki trip left me kinda broke (I had to lend my mom 1k € too, haha).
