I call last week my "recuperation week" where I just charge myself with all the energy I spent on our event and a couple of sleepless nights thanks to my baito. It was another week of talking with strangers who had a lot of amazing things to share with me ( Read more... )

lol your post is pinging my psych graduate radarrrrrr.

while i see your point, i think psychology has a very clearly defined line between good state - qualitatively speaking and referring to productivity, and adaptive state - usually jargon for well-adjusted and moderate. So yes, your example illustrates a state of maladaptive flow - but then all flow is maladaptive to some extent, and it's up to the individual to regulate it. i don't really know how to explain the distinction, but the closest i can get is that flow as a state is a tool, and it's up to the individual to use it in an adaptive (or maladaptive, as the case may be) fashion.

It's no worries dear~ And it's good that it's pinging it because I don't know enough psych to say enough but only ask what I think contrasts it from what I see in society.

The flow seems to be a description of a state. Not sure if it is a tool and in a way it is, but it also yeah...

One of the things Ms. Susanna and I were wondering was that this flow thing seems to consider any state of "flow" as a positive one. Like the thing I described was maladaptive as you speak, but I posed the question on who are we to speak of what is maladaptive? It's difficult isn't it? This gray thing called human life.

*sighs*
