Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu; that was....incredibly painful to watch...
Episode seven was, on reflection, fitting. Sakuma couldn't escape being yakuza so it's only fair that he dies through a benevolent act. And Izumi's reflection was quite true too: she should live for them. I was a little disappointed that Izumi didn't kill them but it makes sense. Sakuma wouldn't have let her get her hands bloodied, that's what everyone else was for. If she became like them she would no longer be Izumi.
...And yet I'm so deflated by it. Sakuma should have lived, even if only for my strangely twisted fangirl tendancies (shipping Sakuma/Izumi so much I felt like I was betraying him when Hideki gave his confession and thinking "awww"). Of course any romance between them wouldn't have worked. I know it sounds bad, but he's too old for her: too mature, too strong, too 'cool' as he's aways described. Besides, whilst I could see fangirl adoration from Izumi's part (okay, at least half a crush) there was nothing really from Sakuma. He was again too yakuza to think of his Leader as anything but a leader (unlik Kazuya in My Boss My Hero who was completely in love with Makio~ ♥). Perhaps he may have been a little bewildered by her, a little confused, but I think he loved in a platonic, grateful way. I don't think he knew how to love in any other way... Oh Sakuma! ♥♥♥ ...then again, my fangirl mind is working overtime and if I neglect a few details (namely that he's probably 43 years old...) I could make it work. But I can't. Yet. Give me time!
I wish I hadn't watched it. I know it was only two days (would have been one if my sister hadn't confiscated the laptop) but oh, so painful. If you have a strong stomach (blood and gore) and a strong heart (no baby tears like me) I'd say watch it.
