Lex sighed happily as he watched Chloe walk towards him, her arms swinging rhythmically one after another; he could feel his smile widening the closer she came.
02. Cool
“Well, I guess you’re just too cool for school, Lex, seeing you’ve pulled me out of my lecture for a ‘little lunch’”, she said looking at the feast before her.
03. Young
She was considerably younger than those women he normally dated, but she was also considerably smarter and funnier; maybe he thought she was young because he’d known her since she was 17.
04. Last
“You know,” she whispered to him as she lay her head in his lap, “I always thought I’d be the last person you’d fall for”, Lex looked into her green eyes and smiled, Me too…

Perhaps she was wrong, that there was no way Lex would ever cheat on her, But then he easily could, he’s always surrounded by beautiful women who throw themselves at him, Chloe’s eyes watered slightly.

Lex gently kissed the top of his wife’s head, as beamed down upon their child who had fallen asleep in her mothers arms.

Sometimes, Lex became as insecure as Chloe, especially when she met with Clark, and at those low times he couldn’t help but feel as if he wasn’t the only one to love her.

Chloe’s eyes began to water as the films credits began to roll, looking at Lex with sad eyes she was shocked to find him in a peaceful slumber, Oh, if I could keep a thousand dreams like this.

Chloe rolled her eyes at the King of the castle, as he attempted to gain control of the children who at that moment, were ravaging his bedroom, So much for a peaceful night…

In the months that Chloe was away on assignments for the Planet, Lex made it his mission to learn every last detail about her, but was pleasantly surprised to find that she had already bared all.

The first few months of wining and dining became a blur to Lex, their relationship had grown so quickly, it was a wonder when it actually started.

Chloe looked at the clock one final time, 1.07am it bleeped, causing Chloe to sigh solemnly and climb into her bed thinking this was how she would spend most of her nights with Lex; cold and alone.

His heart seemed to swell with happiness when he realised that she had never changed, but it broke a little when he realised that neither did he.

“You don’t own me Lex, you can’t tell me what to do!”

He held her tightly in his arms as she cried herself to sleep, her tears spilling onto his shirt as she grieved for the pain she’d been through.

Lex picked up the phone as soon as he was locked in his office dialled Chloe’s number, “Hey, its Chloe, I’m not in so leave a message” she told him in a bubbly voice causing Lex to sink into his chair.

He looked at the beautiful girl in his arms as he thought of the vision Cassandra, how he stood amidst the carnage and wreckage he created.

Why won’t she ever hear me and not the lies, Lex told himself as he looked into her accusing eyes.

He had bared his soul to her and she knew it, but still, Chloe couldn’t keep his pain inside and let it slip out as tears.

His favourite picture of them was when she had sat beside him and surprisingly kissed his cheek just as the camera flashed, showing them beaming, whilst hers was of his back as turned to look at her in the distance.

He was no fool, he knew that people would stare at them as they ventured out in the public, the hidden whispers and silent stares as he would hold and kiss Chloe’s hand.

Chloe could never forget the look of madness gleaming in Lex’s eyes and even though he was ok now, she couldn’t help but feel that one day, he’d slip away from her.

Lex laughed happily as he placed a hand over Chloe’s stomach, knowing that in eight months time, he’d be a father.

“Don’t,” Chloe whispered into his blue eyes, “Don’t let your past ruin this moment, keep it for now.”

The first time they parted, Chloe felt as it she would never be able to face him again, but she did, and after that, the goodbye’s became less frequent.

She knew that he kept secrets from her, and she also knew that he preferred things that way, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to find out, and then doing so.

Of course there were accusations that she was in it just for the wealth, but there were also accusations that he was in it because he needed to destroy something else new and innocent; either way, both were wrong they were in it for each other.

Sometimes at night, Lex could feel the ghost of his mother watching over him, and rather than feeling happy that she as around, he felt afraid that she would be disappointed in him, but Chloe always soothed his cry’s and made him feel as if she would love him no matter what.

And they both adored reading, and would read until their eyes hurt and their fingers pained from all the paper cuts, but most of all, they loved reading to each other, listening to the sweet words flow from each others tongues.

And she would silently drown in those blue eyes, secretly wishing that she could stay in those moments forever, falling deeper into this madness called ‘love’.

It was easy to say that neither of them had been in such a relationship before, where they were always the priority and not some other girl, or his fathers money; and never had they used this to such an extent as they did, for they loved each other

There was never enough time for them, perhaps if there were 34 hours in a day they would be able to be with each other; but time has other thoughts, and forever keeps them waiting.

Sometimes, after another confrontation with his father, Lex would spiral into misery, and would spend the rest of him trying to wash away any part of him that was his fathers son; but he would never be able to do that, leaving him to sleep angrily in Chloe’s arms.

Perhaps the most difficult step in their relationship was their inability to believe in one another, there was always some excuse; but when he charged to the hospital after she had fallen through a glass window, stopping everything in his path, she realised that he maybe the only one who truly did believe in her.
