Portions of Christmas pudding are usually small because it tastes very rich and sweet.

You serve with brandy butter?

Also, have you brandy to pour over the top of the pudding before serving? Tradition here is pour brandy (about a dessertspoon) over top of pudding, use match or cigarette lighter, make flame over pudding. Burn off alchol and leave taste of brandy on top of pudding.

Enjoy :)

In my neck of the woods, brandy butter is for mince pies. Interesting to see that's not the case elsewhere.

I once singed my eyebrows, and everything else in range, when working for Countrywide when I was volunteered to take flaming puddings to the tables at Grasmere - the chef had put a couple of tablespoons of brandy on!

I must admit, I only mentioned the brandy butter because I've heard other people talk about it in conjunction with Christmas pud so I thought it was one of those things that 'everybody does'. I don't think I've ever had brandy butter; my preference with Christmas pud would probably be cream or custard... except that I'd prefer to have either or both of those on their own, without the Christmas pud.
I'm not that keen on mince pies, either. Far too sweet for my taste, especially after a meal.

I'll just slope off and hid now, shall I?
