Creating a Bloodline

I've been mullling over this for a while and have come to a conclusion.

I'm a dog snob. And I'm okay with it.

I've also been judgemental right out of the gate about what is Right or Wrong- for a long time, That is not okay.
Now I'm still a dog snob, but hopefully a more educated dog snob with better reasons than "well that's what byb-ers do!"

And just putting this out there:

Breeding, as with any endeavor that's close to your heart, is a personal thing. Some people gonna agree, some not. YOU MUST FOLLOW your heart and what you have found to be "truth." This pretty much oozes out into anything anyone does. If you try to please even HALF the people... you'll fail. You have to please YOU. True joy, passion and care comes from inside.

You are doing your homework. You have a vision. You must be true to that. Any flack you get from whatever side (and boy, the Aussie breeding world is a super small one!) will be off-set by the joy you bring to those who want "that dog" and love it to the end of its being. That's the kicker right there... the love you bring into the world for someone you've not even met yet. Brilliant.

I completely agree. I didn't mean for any of it to come off as defensive, because I'm not. I feel like no matter what you do in the dog world, you will be judged harshly and so what? This is my line. Those that have opposite viewpoints probably aren't the people that would get one of my pups anyway. I'm ok with that. But I'm done not having solid reasons for why I do what I do. :-) I feel like if you're not looking at least 2 generations out, it gets easy to get sucked into the here and now of popular sires. And everything from now on will be coming back to the dogs I choose now. I better like them ;-)

Ha! exactly. I think you summed it up pretty clearly when you said "would I take this dog home?" I bet there's a lot of peeps out there who can't answer YES to that question, but used a male (female) anyway. And that's pretty not cool.
