Seattle Post-Intelligencer needs proof-readers

Surely someone should have caught this typo?

"If you look historically, the Bible has reference to Unix, which were probably early transsexuals."

(from Transgender Doctor Talks Sex Change Hospital)

(Edit: The original TVGuide article does not contain this error. I wonder if the Seattle P-I had someone read the article to one of their staff ( Read more... )

I can't find the relevant Dilbert strip, but this is how it goes:

Boss - "My boss says we need some eunuch programmers."
Dilbert - "I think he means UNIX and I already know UNIX."
Boss - "Well, if the company nurse comes by, tell her I said never mind."

While up for 2AM feedings with our second child a few years ago, I discovered that WE runs all kinds of interesting material in the wee hours of the morning. I learned about cannibal fetishists and pony play in addition to seeing countless repeats of "A Bunny's Tale".

It beat watching CNN. :)

Ah, I learned about cannibal fetishists and pony play just from reading a lot of friend-of-a-friend Livejournals. ;-)

Is it bad that I find that typo kind of funny? LOL

I'm with you, I think they really need to get some proofreaders in there. I can't believe nobody caught it!

If it's bad, then I'm bad too!

Hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. Maybe the copy editor just had his computer do a spell check?

Proofreading seems to be a lost art! So many times I read something or hear it read on "the news" and think that a 1930's newpaper editor would have someone reduced to the mailroom for less!

One of the worst I've ever heard was a local TV station's announcement before they replayed their 10PM news at 2AM.

"The following was pre-recorded earlier for rebroadcast at this time."

I was to the point of wishing I could jump through the set and strangle them when, after 5 years, they finally changed it!
