My first meditation

The next time I went to the monastery, a short nun with glasses taught us the basics of meditation. She was short and stocky, and had glasses. She seemed a little bit cross-eyed (hey, it happens). I know that mind can triumph over matter, but I still have a terrible time trying to maintain even half-Lotus. I've injured both ankles multiple times so that, these days, holding my feet in any pointed position results in immediate pain.

As a result, whenever I've practiced meditation in the past, I've done a very lazy half-Lotus position. No doubt I'm never reaching Nirvana that way, but at least the meditation still served to clear my mind. ;)

thank you, I will take that into account. So, are you doing anything for Cinco de Mayo? Everyone's getting all weird about boycotting it because of the May Day thing, but that's just ridiculous.

You know, the whole nationwide protest with millions of people out in the streets over the immigration issue on May 1.

Well, people against illegal immigration are trying to advocate boycotting Cinco de Mayo. I'm kind of against it myself, but I think boycotting Cinco de Mayo is frivolous.
