I thought, having watched the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice twice in Lent term in my first year with Sarah (because, shock horror, I had never seen it prior to this and she felt this sorry situation simply had to be rectified) and *loved* it, that I would consequently distinctly dislike the Keira Knightley version...Not least because Keira ( Read more... )

I absolutely LOVE P&P, but haven't been able to bring myself to watch the Keira Knightley version, just because I find her so irritating and smug. I'm thinking it might be worth a try, though, especially since I suspect our views on these things might be fairly similar...!

Of course, though, speaking as a student of literature, no film version can ever touch the book... :P

she *is* indeed irritating and smug, but she manages to hide this mostly in the film, thankfully. it is definitely worth a watch.
i am going to finish watching it now...(didn't get a chance to earlier, and since my supervision lasted 3 HOURS -- that must be a record -- I feel that I am fully justified in spending the evening in this way!!)
